Even though Scott and I were not feeling good last Saturday, we still had plenty of wine the rest of the weekend. Although the weather is hot, and we have added more whites to our collection, I can usually always roll with a red regardless of the temperature outside. I mean, I’m drinking inside where it’s air conditioned, not sitting out in the 100+ temperatures, so why not?
We also get excited when we find a new wine that is good tasting, doesn’t break the bank, and can be served along side of a turkey sandwich on an average weeknight, as well as shared with friends over a nice meal. I think we found a winner in this one:
The 2008 Chariot Gypsy is a delicious blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Sangiovese from northern California. (Napa, Sonoma, and Monterey.) It has a deep garnet color and the taste is fruity, a hint of spice, and a little smooth tannin. (I hate when there is so much tannins that it leaves your tongue feeling like cotton.) At first, I wasn’t sure about it. After about 15 minutes, and a bite of a cracker I loved it! Just a note, if you try it, to let it breathe for a good 15-20 minutes.
I’m glad we bought several bottles, because I’ve been having a glass of this every night. I told you it was a great everyday wine!
On another note; I did the Chest and Back disc of P90X this morning. OMG, am I going to be sore tomorrow. Push-ups and pull-ups anyone? For an hour!? It was good. I’m really impressed so far with the workouts in P90X. I usually think of workout videos as “beginner” level, and this is not. I love the challenge and being able to get in a hard workout, at home!
Question: Do your wine-buds taste with the change of weather? Or, do you drink what pairs with your food best regardless of temperatures?
